Lego Reveals Massive Marvel X-Men X-Mansion Set

Just when you think you’ve given over all the shelf space you can for elaborate Lego builds… along comes the X-Mansion. All 3,093 pieces of it. Will you need mutant powers to assemble this? It’s possible!

Xavier’s School for Gifted Youngsters, or the Xavier Institute for Higher Learning, or simply the X-Mansion, depending on the context and/or your preference, recently had its moment in the Disney+ Marvel series X-Men ’97, but it’s also had a big presence across X-Men comics and live-action movies. It’s a nexus of mutant activity, and as such is often targeted by enemies—something Lego Marvel X-Men: The X-Mansion very much takes into account.

Lego’s press release describes the set as an “immersive, creative construction project” aimed at adult Lego fans, which should be obvious by the fact that, as mentioned, there are 3,093 pieces to fiddle with here. It also features “a buildable Sentinel and 10 familiar minifigures—five of which will be showcased for the first time ever in a LEGO set.” The newbies are Professor X, Gambit, Iceman, and Bishop, plus a new Jean Grey variation. You also get Wolverine, Magneto, Rogue, Storm, and Cyclops. Also, you will find “Cerebro, switchable Danger Room items, an exploding cupola (dome-like structure), motorcycle for Wolverine, [and] graphical nods to the iconic X-Men franchise.”

Lego Insiders can get their mitts on the set starting November 1 (here’s the Lego link); it’ll go into wide release November 4. It won’t come cheap ($330), but if you have a Lego Insiders membership and pick it up between November 1-7, you will also get the Lego Marvel Cerebro as part of your purchase.

Here’s a gallery of images showcasing the attention to detail that went into designing this thing, with plenty of action-ready moments at your fingertips. Or anti-action; if you want to recreate you-know-which Wolverine meme, the set comes with a tiny picture for all the longing gazes a minifigure can muster.

Releasing at the start of November, the X-Mansion hits the market after a big October for Lego (including that $500 Lego Star Wars Ultimate Collector Series Jabba’s Sail Barge, plus more modestly priced sets for Wicked and Fortnite), but November is ever-closer to December, so you might as well start bricking up your holiday gifts while the moment’s right.
